Freightliner diverts to avoid Olympics grand show

At the halfway stage of the 2012 London Olympics, today is expected to be the busiest day so far as the track and field athletes join the stage of the 'biggest show on earth' at the Stratford east London venue.

And with hundreds of thousands more people attending all of the venues at the Olympic Park, the hub station at Stratford will be even busier than normal with extra trains laid on to accommodate the sports-mad guests.

However, leading UK rail freight hauler, Freightliner has planned well ahead to ensure that there are no delays to its 110 trains to and from the UK's ports during the Games. It said today that it had organized diversions via cross country routes to avoid the congestion.
